REVENGE is everywhere in this slick French thriller, which starts relatively conventionally but delivers some real tension by its conclusion.
Vincent Mandel is going through a divorce and fighting for custody of his kids. An old friend, Joseph Plender, comes back into his life, offering friendship but actually determined to correct a wrong committed years before.
Plender’s method is blackmail, using the beautiful Sophia to lure his targets into uncompromising positions. In Mandel’s case, a rape allegation is made and his life starts to unravel, with the prospect of his children moving to Germany with their mother.
He decides to fight back and targets Plender’s weak spot – his obsession with his late mother.
A deadly battle of wills ensues which builds to a stunning conclusion which is totally gripping. Classy.
