THERE was a time when I simply loved Minder. My TV watching week as a teenager revolved around my hour-long fix with hired muscle but all- round good guy Terry McCann (Dennis Waterman) and his wheeler dealer, dodgy car salesman boss Arthur Daley (George Cole).
When the famous “do, do, do do, do� signature tune signalled the end of another episode, I used to feel like crying – no Heroes, 24, or Sopranos in those days! So how does it feel coming back to the DVD re-release close to 20 years later?
Happy to report – absolutely brilliant. This is an all-time classic. Great acting and top scripts. The only slight down is after Waterman’s departure, when Gary Webster took over. It was never as good again, despite his best efforts. Available as a full 10-series box-set plus specials, along with a separate specials release, and three Best Of box-sets with six classic episodes on each.
